About this event
Kiray Putjung Aboriginal Corporation hosted the 2026 NAIDOC Family Fun Day at TAFE Park in Cessnock, bringing families, schools, community organisations and local groups together for a free celebration of Aboriginal culture, connection and community.
The event celebrated the national NAIDOC Week theme, “50 Years of Deadly”, recognising five decades of NAIDOC Week and the pride, strength and resilience of First Nations communities.
The program included Aboriginal dance, didgeridoo and live music, cultural demonstrations, food stalls, a community BBQ, children’s rides and family activities. Students from our local schools among those who performed during the day.
Community organisations also contributed activities and support. Samaritans helped with the BBQ and connected with community members.
